The story of La Baia begins in Atina, Italy, a small town in the province of Frosinone, where food was part of everyday life and hospitality meant everything. Long before La Baia became an Italian food truck in Columbus, Ohio, it began with family recipes, a passion for cooking, and a dream that would eventually travel across the ocean.

Where the Story Began
I grew up surrounded by kitchens, aromas, and people who believed food should be made with care. My mother was a chef, and from her I learned something that still defines La Baia today: great Italian food does not need to be complicated. It needs fresh ingredients, patience, and heart.
In Atina, I was also surrounded by friends who were pizzaiolos. Watching them stretch dough, work the oven, and turn simple ingredients into something unforgettable sparked my love for pizza. What started as curiosity slowly became a lifelong passion for authentic Italian cooking.
On November 4, 2008, when I was just 19 years old, I opened my first business in Italy: La Baia Dei Sapori. That was the real beginning of the journey.
A Dream That Crossed the Ocean
In 2015, I visited America and met the woman who would later become my wife. On our first date, she asked me a simple question: “What’s your dream?” I told her I wanted to build an Italian food truck in America and serve simple, savory dishes inspired by the food I grew up with in Italy.
Building La Baia in America
Dreams are beautiful, but building them takes time. Years later, my wife Monica, our son Wesley, and I decided to bring that vision to life. On January 16, 2019, we purchased a trailer that would become the La Baia Italian Food Truck.
I personally designed the interior so it would support the way I wanted to cook: fresh dough, real ingredients, and food prepared with the same spirit I learned in Italy. We picked up our custom-built trailer on October 3, 2020.
Then the pandemic arrived and delayed everything. The opening had to wait, but the dream stayed alive. Sometimes the road bends before it opens, and this one definitely took the scenic route.
When the Fire Finally Started
In September 2022, La Baia finally began serving guests in the Antelope Valley and Los Angeles area in California. After years of planning and waiting, the truck was finally doing what it was built to do: bringing authentic Italian food directly to people.
Those first years on the road were unforgettable. Long days, hot ovens, stretched dough, busy events, and the joy of watching people take that first bite of pizza made the entire journey feel real. La Baia was no longer an idea. It was a working dream on wheels.
From community gatherings to private celebrations, we saw again and again how food brings people together. That is still at the heart of everything we do.
A New Chapter in Columbus, Ohio
In August 2024, our family made another big move and relocated to Columbus, Ohio. We brought La Baia with us and started a new chapter in a new community.
The location changed, but the mission did not. Today, La Baia serves as an Italian food truck in Columbus offering fresh pizza, panini, lasagna, sweet crêpes, and catering for weddings, festivals, private parties, and corporate events.
Every dish we serve is rooted in the same values that shaped this journey from the beginning: authenticity, family, hospitality, and the belief that food should make people feel welcome.
